Our clients came to us with a recently purchased lot on Lake Johanna with a beat-up house that they were currently living in. It took several years to design the project that would ultimately turn into their main living quarters. We needed to pivot at the beginning, however, because the client originally requested that we lay a new foundation for their home. Due to how the house was situated on the lake, replacing the foundation would have required relocating the home in relation to the lake. Instead, we made the recommendation to modify and use the existing foundation to keep the position of the home. The new design had a rustic yet modern feel, with reclaimed timber beams in the kitchen and reclaimed vanity in the powder bath.
